About
Muralidaran Rajagopalan
I have spent 40 years building and running power plants. Today I use that experience to help listed companies get their BRSR right before their assurer or assessor checks it.
My first 22 years were at NTPC, commissioning large coal-fired power stations. I then led energy projects and businesses at GMR Energy, SunEdison, Tata Consulting Engineers, Raasi, SCCL and Zoho Power Projects, with project work in India, Ghana, Nigeria and Myanmar.
Along the way: 300 MW of solar delivered, including floating solar plants; around 396,000 tonnes of CO₂ avoided each year; 13.4 billion litres of water saved; and a full ash use plan for a 6,300 MW coal-based project.
That background is what I bring to the boardroom. When a sustainability number does not match how a site actually runs, I usually spot it.
I founded Tejas Advisors in 2026. Most clients write their own report and use us to check it through the year, the way an internal auditor would. For those who want it, we prepare the full report. We take only one of these roles for any company.
Why companies call me
Two ways I help: check your BRSR, or prepare it.
Either way, every figure is tested against how your plants really run.
If your team writes the report
I check it, like an internal auditor.
Every CFO has two auditors. The statutory auditor gives the final opinion. The internal auditor checks the work through the year, so errors are fixed before the statutory auditor arrives.
Your assurer or assessor is the statutory auditor of your BRSR. I work like the internal auditor: I review your data and draft through the year, trace key numbers to meter readings, invoices and site records, and show where the assurer or assessor is likely to push back. Your team makes the corrections, and I check them.
Readiness Review and Full Support →If you would rather not write it
We prepare it for you.
Many companies do not have an ESG reporting team, and do not want to build one for a single annual report.
Your team collects the data in our formats. We do all the calculations, write the full BRSR, prepare the XBRL data and the board presentation, and get you ready for the assurer or assessor. Then we step back: an independent assurer or assessor checks the report, not us. Your board approves it, and it stays your company’s report.
Report Preparation →Career
Four decades across India’s power and energy sector.
How we work
Three rules for every engagement.
One role per company
We either check your report or prepare it, never both, and we do not provide assurance. That keeps every check independent.
Traced to source
We follow the key numbers back to meter readings, invoices and site records, not just the summary spreadsheet.
Early
We show where an assurer or assessor is likely to push back while there is still time to fix it, and suggest improvements starting from last year’s report.
